Long eyelashes are a dream of many women. It is them, accompanied by the eyebrows, that create a beautiful eye setting. They can make your eyes look magnetizing, unique, sexy… What to do to make your eyelashes long, yet strong and thicker?
How long does it take for eyelashes to grow back?
There are about 150-200 eyelashes growing on the upper eyelid and 50 to 150 on the lower eyelid. Although many people do not know this, the eyelashes are arranged on the eyelid in 3 rows. The phase of intensive eyelash growth, unlike hair on the head, is really short. The first phase – anagen, takes only 2-3 weeks. It is followed by a catagen phase, during which the hair follicles shrink. Then they enter the last resting phase – telogen. Then the lashes start to fall out.
Many people wonder if after falling out do the eyelashes grow back and can still look beautiful. Well, after the eyelash falls out it returns to the first phase, and the whole cycle is repeated, lasting a total of 3-4 months. If you want to have stronger, thicker and healthier eyelashes, you should take care of the anagen phase. 1-2 eyelashes falling out per day is a standard. If more eyelashes fall out, you should consult a dermatologist.
Tips for long eyelashes
A lash lift is one of the most popular cosmetic treatments for natural curling of eyelid hair. In an extensive article on our blog we explain what is a lash lift? In short: it is a procedure involving the application of a special substance on the eyelashes, which helps to lengthen and thicken natural hair. Eyelashes are curled on a roller and strengthened with nutrients. As a result, the eyelashes are beautifully exposed, giving a subtle and natural effect, which lasts from 4 to even 6 weeks. The lash lift should be repeated in a professional beauty salon every 3 weeks.
Everyone can benefit from the lash lift treatment. Contraindications include various eye diseases, inflammations, infections, etc. Before starting the treatment, it is up to the specialist to conduct a detailed interview with the client. In our beauty salon we approach each of you individually – we want all the services we offer to be safe and give you joy from the unique effects of accentuating your look.
The list of components that can have a nutritional effect on eyelashes:
- vitamins: vitamin B5, which rebuilds the hair structure, and vitamin B12, which can protect the eyelashes from falling out.;
- components: hyaluronic acid is responsible for hydrating the eyelashes, glycoprotein stimulates the growth of hair follicles, and panthenol has anti-inflammatory and regenerative effects;
- plant extracts: compositions of selected herbs show antioxidant and regenerative properties.
Natural methods for long eyelashes
Olive oil contains many vitamins to strengthen natural lashes. Olive oil moisturizes and lubricates the hair in a natural way.
Application: with a clean brush, apply a small amount of oil to the lashes and make sure that the substance does not flow into the eye (it can cause irritation). You can use the oil overnight.
With vaseline you can thicken and strengthen your lashes. It is important to use this cosmetic regularly. It is worth to apply it to your eyelashes 3-4 times a week before bedtime and leave it overnight.
As an antioxidant, green tea reduces the effect of free radicals and also regenerates and strengthens hair. It forms a protective layer on the eyelashes against external conditions and mechanical damage. It can also prevent the loss and breakage of eyelashes. As a result, the “curtain” on the eyelid will be thicker and more outlined. Green tea can be gently brewed in warm, but not hot water. The infusion should be applied twice a day on the eyelashes for about 30 days (for example with a cotton pad).
Castor oil has a strengthening, thickening and nourishing effect on the eyelashes. Fats contained in it can protect hair structure. Moreover, castor oil can effectively darken hair color and reduce its brittleness. It can be used separately or in combination with olive oil in the proportion of 5 drops of olive oil to 5 drops of castor oil. This mixture can be applied to the eyelashes every night before bedtime and left for the whole night. Castor oil itself should be used more rarely.
Tips for those who want to have long lashes
Natural long eyelashes are not only the result of genetics. Not only care or cosmetic treatments can make your lashes long, strong and thick. Daily washing of the face and eye area is crucial as well.
Use good and safe cosmetics
If you use low-quality or even outdated eye make-up products, not only do you put a strain on your natural lashes, but you can also promote inflammation of the eyes! Each cosmetic has a different expiry date.
- Expiration date up to 3 months: regardless of your fondness for your favorite mascara, do not use it if it has been open for more than 3 months. This also applies to other cosmetics and accessories for washing and caring for the face, such as facial masks and scrubs, sponges or washcloths.
- Expiration date up to 6 months: this shelf life usually applies to liquid eyeliners and eye creams.
- Expiration date up to one or two years: eyeliner, liner, eye shadow.
If you want to avoid irritation, eye inflammation and even other serious diseases – use only safe, good and quality cosmetics that have not expired. If, after applying the mascara, your eyes will tear, pinch or redden more often, give up such a cosmetic, as it may turn out that the components contained in it cause allergy.
Give your eyelashes a break
You like your mascara and can’t imagine leaving home without your eyelashes painted? It’s a mistake. Give your eyes a rest, decide to lift your eyelashes or lash extensions in a specialist beauty salon where no cosmetic treatment will burden your natural eyelashes but will help to strengthen them!
Perform make-up removal gently
Every woman should know how important it is to remove makeup properly and thoroughly. However, removing makeup residue should be done safely. Only proven cosmetics should be used, preferably those based on fats that effectively dissolve makeup. Do not rub your eyes strongly, but only apply a cotton pad soaked in the liquid to the eye and wait several dozen seconds for the mascara, eyeshadow or eyeliner to dissolve.
Wash your face with lukewarm water
Washing the face with hot water is not beneficial for the condition of the skin and eyelashes. It is recommended to wash your face with lukewarm or even cold water – which can stimulate blood circulation and help nourish the skin.
Use eyelash conditioners
Many people decide to use specialized cosmetics to strengthen their eyelashes. However, you should consult an expert who will advise you what components will actually affect the volume and lengthening of eyelashes. When using eyelash conditioners, wait for the effects – on average, after 30 days of using such specialized cosmetics, you can expect noticeably longer eyelashes.
Incorrectly used curler can mechanically damage the eyelashes. The basic mistake is that many people use an eyelash curler on mascara. In this way, eyelashes are often broken or even pulled out! The exposure to high temperature can also have a negative effect on natural hair.
Do not glue eyelashes yourself
Many people, wanting to save money, try to glue the lashes on their own. This can be not only harmful to the eyelashes, but even dangerous to health. In a specialist beauty salon, an expert in this area glues eyelashes, selects safe material and glue, and uses sterile tools and proven cosmetic accessories.
Try eyelashes extensions
Long eyelashes can be effectively obtained thanks to the eyelash extension treatment. You can gain a natural look (1:1 method) or use volumetric methods, which greatly emphasize the eye setting. Of course, you also have to know how to take care of your eyelash extensions. A stylist from a beauty salon will assess the condition of natural lashes and advise the best solutions.
